Overview

The Employee Development Business Partner is responsible for enhancing the competencies of individual employees by designing and conducting training programs that will boost employee’s workplace performance in alliance with company’s core values. Additional responsibilities include performing training needs assessments, designing and delivering curriculum and learning materials, and managing all phases of training programs.

 

The Employee Development Business Partner will exemplify the high standards that have come to be associated with WSC. As an ESOP owner, acting with honor, integrity, and positivity is imperative.  The Employee Development Business Partner’s prime objective is to oversee the development and execution of the company’s training program.

Responsibilities

Duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Identify opportunities for the training program by evaluating strengths and weaknesses. Evaluate ongoing programs to ensure that they reflect any changes.
  • Translate requirements into trainings that will prepare employees for the next step in their career path.
  • Build business unit specific annual training program(s) and prepare content for teaching plans to include the production of classroom handouts, instructional materials, aids, manuals and online learning content.
  • Develop and create line specific content for production lines and/or distribution facilities.
  • Direct structured learning experiences and monitor their quality result.
  • Deliver/instruct employee training and work with Trainers to insure consistency of training for all employees.
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to standardize training content and documentation.
  • Work with frontline leaders to adopt progress checkpoints on training and fit into the culture.
  • Test and review created materials.
  • Manage and coordinate training schedules for various operations within WSC including monitoring enrollment, schedule, costs and equipment.
  • Assess training effectiveness to ensure incorporation of taught skills and techniques into employees work behavior. Owning accountability checks and documentation of delivery of training.
  • Consult with Trainers, Managers and Leadership team to ensure training initiatives are meeting expectations.
  • Assist with onboarding of new associates, including employee orientation.
  • Stay abreast of the new trends and tools in employee development.
  • Manage the LMS (Learning Management System) platform, including content for relevancy.
  • Identify, source and facilitate OSHA required periodical training through LMS and in-person.
  • Assist in managing a team of Employee Development Coordinators.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of various teaching methods and approaches
  • Experience with technologies and best practices for instructional manuals and teaching platforms
  • Ability to develop and coach employees successfully
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to supervise multiple projects. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent leadership, team building, and management skills
  • Encouraging to team and staff; able to mentor and lead
  • Strict adherence to company philosophy and mission statement

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or education or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of developing hourly employee training programs
  • Experience with training software packages
  • Certifications from talent and training associations a plus
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and instructional software

 

Working Demands/Physical Requirements:

  • Flexibility of hours to adapt to seasonal needs
  • Sitting and computer use
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected
