Engineered Wood Products Designer/Inside Sales

Summary:  The EWP Designer / Inside Sales position will be responsible for providing quotes and layouts for roof, floor and wall systems and closing the sale with the customer.

Duties to include (not limited to):

• Primary responsibility is to engineer I-joist floor systems, I-joist roof systems, tall wall systems and produce a quote and layout to the customer.
• Learn and apply features and benefits, installation, and competitive knowledge on the entire EWP product line.
• Answering incoming phone calls to help the customer with EWP questions / calcs / orders / transfers.
• Enter orders into the system to be cut and giving the customer a reasonable delivery date.
• Learn and apply sales techniques to include:
  • Create and grow customer relationships.
  • Telling the company story.
  • Asking the best questions (open ended) /listening skills/ identifying time to buy/asking for the order.
• Learn WSC operations and procedures to apply in problem solving situations.
• Negotiate prices when the situation applies.
• Support the Inside and Outside Sales staff.

• Basic keyboarding and software skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
• Knowledge of residential construction
• Understanding of load path development and ability to calculate structural members
• AutoCAD experience
• Structural CAD experience (would be a plus)
• Strong math skills
• Ability to manage multiple demands while maintaining solid communication skills both verbally and especially by e-mail communication
• Ability to work independently while demonstrating leadership skills that portray excellent team work mentality
• Problem solving and innovative solutions to eliminate obstacles
• Dynamic self-motivation and ability to work a flexible schedule

Education / Experience:

• Minimum 2 year degree in Residential Design or equivalent
• Minimum 2 – 4 years in related field and position (would be a plus)
• Inside or Outside sales (would be a plus)

Working Demands / Requirements:

• Ability to sustain long periods of working at a desk with continuous phone calls.
• Occasional need to travel for sales and training purposes.
