Overview

The Production Scheduler is responsible for the day to day scheduling for our production operations. It is the responsibility of the Production Scheduler to be aware of all production goals and anticipate problems that could affect daily schedules thus affecting long term goals. In order to be effective, the Production Scheduler must demonstrate coherent communication and positive relations with all internal levels of the organization is imperative.

Responsibilities

 

Duties to include, (but not limited to):

  • Analyzes customer order backlog in order to prepare production reports.
  • Production-planning oversight to ensure that production operations are meeting shipping dates according to sales forecasts and/or customer orders.
  • Planning and scheduling workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Monitors, analyzes & reports performance of production & production support activities, utilizing information derived from material and production control systems.
  • Ensures all parties are fully cognizant of production status, and that work planning and execution objectives are integrated and communicated.
  • Analyzes requests for maintenance/repair services and determines the validity, content and scope of requested work.
  • Ensures plant operations are operating within stated lead times.
  • Develops capacity plans to support varying levels of demand.

Qualifications

 A Production Scheduler Demonstrates:

  • Strong analytical skills, able to synthesize considerable and complex data.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as well as developed oral and written communication skills to deal with internal and external relationships.
  • Remain highly organized, flexible and able to react well to immediate issues with attention to detail and deadlines which includes prompt responses to daily emails and phone requests.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet expected goals on time
  • Teamwork within all departments will be necessary on a daily basis.
  • Motivated to go beyond the job description to ensure the work meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Ability to modulate with a dynamic workload: from heavy multi-tasking during peak workloads to very focused detail-oriented work during critical projects.

 Education / Experience:

  • BS degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field, and/or 3 years of experience in planning/scheduling.
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency required
  • Preferred planning/scheduling experience in a manufacturing setting.

 Working Demands / Physical Requirements:

  • After hours availability for staff when needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50-75 pounds at those times when assistance needed on production floor.
  • On Call availability – machine failures occur, and production operators may need direction for schedule changes.

 Reports to: Manager of Planning and Scheduling
