Overview

The Production Scheduler is responsible for the day to day scheduling for our production operations.  It is the responsibility of the Production Scheduler to be aware of all production goals and anticipate problems that could affect daily schedules thus affecting long term goals.  In order to be effective, the Production Scheduler must demonstrate coherent communication and positive relations with all internal levels of the organization is imperative. The Production Scheduler will exemplify the high standards that have come to be associated with WSC. As an ESOP owner cutting across all departments and levels of the organization, the Production Scheduler will demonstrate communication excellence, politeness, honor, integrity and the willingness to do what our competition will not.

Responsibilities

Duties to include, (but not limited to):

  • Maintain and adjust work orders to ensure operations has what is needed to obtain the schedule.
  • Analyzes customer order backlog to prepare production reports
  • Production-planning oversight to ensure that production operations are meeting shipping dates according to sales forecasts and/or customer orders.
  • Planning and scheduling workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Monitors, analyzes & reports performance of production & production support activities, utilizing information derived from material and production control systems.
  • Ensures all parties are fully cognizant of production status, and that work planning and execution objectives are integrated and communicated.
  • Time study current processes to set standards for manufacturing orders.
  • Develops capacity plans to support varying levels of demand.
  • Track and create orders for on demand products.

Qualifications

A Production Scheduler Demonstrates:

  • Strong analytical skills, able to synthesize considerable and complex data.
  • Support floor activity when assistance is needed to ensure schedules are attained.
  • Remain highly organized, flexible and able to react well to immediate issues with attention to detail and deadlines which includes prompt responses to daily emails and phone requests.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet expected goals on time
  • Teamwork within all departments will be necessary on a daily basis.
  • Motivated to go beyond the job description to ensure the work meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Ability to modulate with a dynamic workload: from heavy multi-tasking during peak workloads to very focused detail-oriented work during critical projects.

Education / Experience:

  • BS degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field, and/or 3 years of experience in planning/scheduling.
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency required
  • Preferred planning/scheduling experience in a manufacturing setting.

 

Working Demands / Physical Requirements:

  • After hours availability for staff when needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50-75 pounds at those times when assistance needed on production floor.
  • On Call availability – machine failures occur, and production operators may need direction for schedule changes.
