Wausau Supply Co. distributes building materials from the industry’s leading manufacturers to authorized retailers from the Great Lakes to the western Rocky Mountains. Our territory continues to expand as we continuously strive to meet the demands of our customers with eighteen distribution centers and five fabrication and finishing facilities.

Responsibilities

 

Summary: The Weekend Shift Lead is responsible for supporting all Waudena Weekend shift processes, ensuring efficiency throughout the production and loading/shipping processes.    It is the responsibility of the Lead to be aware of all production and loading goals and anticipate problems that could impact those goals, including issue resolution, quality control, and establishing high standards of workmanship.  In order to be effective, the Weekend Shift Lead must be a clear communicator with strong self-motivation and drive to set and achieve goals.  It is imperative that positive relations with all internal levels of the organization remain uncompromised.

 

Duties to include, (but not limited to):

  • Trains to and supports the Weekend shift team on the proper use of safety equipment and procedures as set forth by the Company and required within the processes at Waudena.
  • Serves as a resource to team members, providing knowledge, experience, motivation, support and advice.
  • Ensures employees follow proper procedures, processes and comply with company protocols and policies.
  • Encourage team effort, supportive attitudes, and ESOP ownership attitudes amongst employees
  • Supports employees in performing to and achieving daily targets and product outputs.
  • Participate as an active member of the Weekend shift team and will perform finishing, assembly, and product loading tasks as required to achieve daily production and/or loading deadlines.
  • Provides input on and works to improve current product or processes.
  • Facilitates planning and scheduling workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and reports out on process performance, utilizing information derived from material and production control systems.
  • Ensure that all personnel are fully cognizant of production and loading statuses of orders.
  • Ensure that work planning and execution objectives are integrated and communicated.
  • Analyzes requests for maintenance/repair services and determines the validity, content and scope of requested work.
  • Monitor quality, service and delivery issues, and take correction actions as needed.
  • Create a continuous feedback loop and prepare reports as required.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness, implement 5S efforts.

Qualifications

 Assembly Lead Demonstrates:

  • Lead and promote safety culture which aligns with Wausau Supply Co. core values
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

 

Education / Experience:

  • High school diploma
  • 3-5 years experience in a manufacturing setting with proven experience leading a team.
  • Experience with production management and ERP software is a plus.

 

Working Demands / Physical Requirements:

  • Clean MVR for situations when travel is needed.
  • Base work schedule of Friday through Monday, 5AM to 5:30PM, with O/T as needed to complete work
  • Ability to lift up to 50-75 pounds.

 

Reports to:  Waudena Plant Manager

As an ESOP owner, acting with honor, integrity, and positivity is imperative.  The Lead’s prime objective is to oversee the safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency in the assembly and finishing of our product line.
