Overview

Summary: Wausau Supply Company (WSC) relies heavily on technology to drive all aspects of the business. The Programmer Analyst is responsible for collaborating with stakeholders, evaluating existing systems, and designing user-centric software applications. Focusing on Microsoft technologies, SQL, and Agile methodologies, this skilled professional manages multiple projects, addresses complex problems, and adapts to unexpected challenges. The Programmer Analyst plays a critical role in improving WSC's efficiency and increasing the value delivered to customers.

Responsibilities

Duties to include, (but not limited to):

  • Collaborating with business stakeholders to gather and document requirements.
  • Evaluating and analyzing existing software systems and proposing ideas for system enhancements.
  • Designing and developing software solutions based on established business requirements and technical specifications.
  • Conducting thorough testing of applications in a development environment prior to deployment in production.
  • Creating comprehensive application documentation, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Providing support and maintenance for existing applications, addressing and resolving issues as required.
  • Collaborating closely with the Applications Development Manager, team members, and vendor partners to prioritize tasks and projects effectively.
  • Continuous refinement and optimization of software applications and processes through ongoing assessment and feedback in an Agile environment.

 

An IT - Programmer Analyst will possess and/or demonstrate the ability to:

  • Proficiently utilize Microsoft technologies and programming languages.
  • Apply extensive knowledge of SQL, including writing stored procedures, functions, indexes, and efficient queries.
  • Employ Source Control systems, specifically TFVC and Git, with proficiency.
  • Exhibit an analytical mindset, evaluating information, identifying patterns, and making informed decisions.
  • Identify problems, conduct research, and propose effective solutions.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with Agile methodologies and work comfortably in an Agile environment.
  • Operate both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Effectively manage time, balancing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks as needed.
  • Adapt to unexpected challenges and acquire new skills or technologies as required.
  • Display strong attention to detail and active listening skills to understand the needs of clients and team members.
  • Communicate professionally, both orally and in writing, articulating ideas and explaining complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Maintain a collaborative and supportive attitude when assisting teammates.
  • Keep current with industry trends and continuously expand technical expertise.
  • Proficiently document work processes and outcomes.

 

Qualifications

Education / Experience:

  • Possess a minimum of a two-year degree from an accredited college or university in information systems, software development, or a related field and 5 years of related work experience –or- 10 years of development experience.
  • Proven experience as a Programmer Analyst or similar role, with a focus on Microsoft technologies

 

Working Demands / Physical Requirements:

  • General office conditions with continuous sitting and heavy computer usage.
  • Occasional short-term out-of-town travel.
  • Occasional after-hours work as needed to meet project deadlines.

 

Reports To:  Applications Development Manager
