Wausau Supply Co. distributes building materials from the industry’s leading manufacturers to authorized retailers from the Great Lakes to the western Rocky Mountains. Our territory continues to expand as we continuously strive to meet the demands of our customers with eighteen distribution centers and five fabrication and finishing facilities.

Responsibilities

SUMMARY:   The Distribution Dispatcher position will oversee the warehouse office, be responsible for maintaining proper SAFETY procedures, proper maintenance of the equipment, ensuring that we accurately distribute quality building materials on a predictable schedule that fit our customer’s needs. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  (not limited to)

  • Responsible for the daily routing of delivery trucks to customers and transfer routes to other locations.
  • Consistently review the routes to make sure they profitable and in line with the current business level.
  • Maintain a positive and clean work environment in conjunction with maintaining all SAFETY
  • Contacting common carrier for loads to other locations.
  • Maintains daily the dropping of orders into TWL for next day customer delivery and transfer routes.
  • Schedules regular truck and trailer maintenance/repair.
  • Ensures completion of inspection dates on all trucks and trailers through effective communication with drivers.
  • Access the need for rental trucks and schedule as needed.
  • Collect, verify, and scan all trip reports into Sharepoint.
  • Verify all fuel purchases and check receipts.
  • Report miles of all trucks owned, leased, and rented on a weekly basis.
  • Audit driver’s logs to ensure compliance is being maintained fully and addresses issues.
  • Schedule drivers drug tests and physicals as requested.
  • Work with management to improve driver training.
  • Ability to learn and train on telemetry software. (Fleetmatics)
  • Confirms the completion of driver’s expense reports on a monthly basis. (Certify)
  • Assist with Will Call customers and their orders.
  • Daily communication with the Distribution Manager
  • All other tasks as assigned by Distribution management.

 

A DISTRIBUTION DISPATCHER WILL POSSESS AND DEMONSTRATE:

Qualifications

 

Education / Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • ERP technology – experience a plus but not required – training will be provided.
  • 1-2 years warehouse experience

 

Working Demands / Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to stand/bend/walk for long periods of time

   

REPORTS TO:  Distribution Manager/Regional Distribution Manager/Transportation Director
